From the Principal

On behalf of the fantastic staff of Pleasant Valley Junior High, I want to welcome you to the 2017-18 school year. Along with the students, the dedicated, hardworking, and caring staff is what makes PVJH such a great place to learn and grow. The collaboration amongst the staff is a foundation to enriching the learning opportunities they strive to provide each day. With these learning opportunities we are constantly focused on challenging each student to improve their academic and socio-emotional skills. These improvements are possible as we focus on hard work, respect, pride, and taking action.

PVJH has been a very busy place this summer in relation to the completion of our $7 million construction and renovation project. The library, orchestra, kitchen, boys’ locker room, and science classroom renovations are being finished. Thanks to our Junior High PTA, our hallways have been painted to bring some color and artistic flair to the building. All of these facility changes are very exciting and will bring another dimension of energy to our school days.

In closing, enjoy these last days of summer. We look forward to beginning another school year developing productive relationships with your child in their learning journey. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions and thank you for all you do to support the Pleasant Valley Schools.

Sincerely,

Dr. Trampus Budde

Strive for Less Than Five

This year, the Pleasant Valley Community School District is teaming up with school districts across the Quad Cities and the United Way to increase attendance.  We encourage you to watch this one-minute video below about the mission and importance of having students at school every day.  We’re hoping you’ll help us break attendance records on Wednesday, August 30.  We’re challenging every student to come to school to get the year started off right!

Don’t Miss a Thing!

In an emergency, PV will send you notices via text and phone calls.  Information you give us during registration automatically signs you up for emergency phone calls.  But, if you want texts, too, you need to sign up. Click here to manage your preferences. Sign in and click on the Contacts Tab.  Your name will pop up, then click edit and make sure your information is correct!  (can’t remember your sign in?  Click “forgot password” on the home page.  If you have any questions, contact our Communications Director at marsounbeth@pleasval.k12.ia.us)

Pleasant Valley schools send out an email every week with important dates, events, and community opportunities.  It’s called the #SpartanNation and it’s unique to every school.  Make sure you check your in-boxes every Friday afternoon, so you don’t miss a thing!

To assure that your email provider will not block email communications, please add this email address to your safe senders list: enews@pleasval.k12.ia.us. Pleasant Valley will not give email lists to anyone outside of the district. Student Artists Shine at PTA Reflections Ceremony

Posted January 18th, 2017

Pleasant Valley students showed off their skills at the PTA Reflections Awards Ceremony on Thursday, January 12, 2017.  This program continues to grow.  This year, PV had 249 entries from  198 students!

The PTA Reflections contest is a nationwide contest to support Arts Education. Students create their projects on their own time and submit artwork in six different catagories:  dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts.  The work is judged by adult artists and each student receives a critique.  At the ceremony, all work is on display as each student is individually recognized for his or her creation.

Special thank you to co-chairs, Denise McGregor and Tosha Allen, as well as the chairs at each individual school:  Leta Rose (Bridgeview) Amy Hartz (Cody), Sharon Tinsman (Hopewell), Angela Brand (Pleasant View), Tosha Allen (Riverdale Heights), Kathleen Fitzgerald (PVJH), Shawn Rice (Edison Academy) and Jennifer Krier (PVHS).
