Pleasant Valley Schools Raise Money for Team Rubicon

Posted September 11th, 2017

Pleasant Valley Schools are working together to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.  On Friday, September 8, 2017, students collected donations at the Homecoming football game.  This week, students will collect spare change at their schools, with the message “if everyone does a little, we can help a lot!”  Together, this money will support Team Rubicon, an organization started by PV graduate Jake Wood.

After the 9/11 attacks, Jake Wood enlisted in the Marine Corps. After four years serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, he left the service to find his next mission in the world, but that mission found him.  In January 2010, Jake gathered a few former Marine friends and headed to Haiti to help in relief efforts.  He knew that highly trained military veterans possessed unique skills which could be used to great effect in a disaster situation.  Team Rubicon was born from that effort.  Visit to learn more about veterans helping victims of disasters, and as importantly, helping one another.

Thank you for your support of Team Rubicon’s work in Texas, and please view this personal message of gratitude from Jake Wood to his friends in Pleasant Valley:
