PLEASANT VIEW STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT FREEDOM

PVCSD loves seeing our students grow and gain deeper understanding of the world around them!  Each month Pleasant View students meet in their Character Circles for a short activity.  The groups are mixed with students from grades K-6.  This year, the focus is Empathy and how people with great character are able to walk in the shoes of others.  Pleasant View educators wanted kids to understand that if people learn about others, they are more likely to show empathy.  On November 10th, Character Circles met and talked about the holiday of Veteran’s Day, and learned what a veteran is and what they have done for America.  Discussions emphasized the fact that there is freedom because of the men and women fighting in the Armed Services. Students were asked what freedom means to each of them and they wrote it on a star. Every star was then added to a freedom banner. That banner was featured in the photo below, and will be hung in the Pleasant View hallways as a reminder to the students.  The photo taken of students with their banner will be used to make a canvas to be donated to the Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic in Bettendorf!
