PVHS and PVJH Orchestras Welcome Winter

Posted December 12th, 2016

On a chilly Tuesday, December 6, 2016, Pleasant Valley’s Orchestra students played their hearts out.  Both the Pleasant Valley Junior High Orchestras and PVHS Orchestras play together in one concert, showing the sustainability of this program.

The 7th Grade Orchestra kicked it off playing two pieces, before the 8th Grade orchestra took over performing challenging pieces like “Themes from Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria'”.  The two Orchestras combined to take on “Boreas.”  The PVHS String Orchestra played several holiday songs, including “Fantasia on “Greensleeves'” which featured two flute soloists.  The Full Orchestra, which includes band instruments, also kept up with the holiday theme, playing the classic “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” and welcoming several vocalists to sing in the piece “Christmas Bells are Ringing.”

The Orchestra program continues to grow here in Pleasant Valley and continues to amaze as the students tackle difficult pieces with ease and grace.

Thank you to Mr. Swinney, Ms. Deets and Ms. Rai for leading our students!
