Bridgeview

MAP & FAST Testing, April 24:  Starting on April 24th our students will begin the FAST assessment. This assessment is a screener of foundational literacy skills. The assessment itself is a series of short one minute assessments in kindergarten and first grade. Second through sixth grade students will read three different passages, each lasting one minute. April 24th will also mark the start of MAP testing for students in grades three through six.  During the two week testing window, students complete two MAP Assessments one in Math and one in Reading.

2017-18 School Supplies:  Order school supplies through the Bridgeview PTA. No shopping and the supplies are delivered to Meet and Greet. Click here to order online.

Bicycle and Scooter Safety:  With the warmer temperatures, more and more students are walking to school or riding bicycles and scooters.  While we encourage both of these opportunities for our students, please remind your child to observe the appropriate safety rules especially when crossing intersections.  We had reports of students crossing those intersections without stopping or looking for oncoming traffic.

Bridgeview Families:  Bridgeview’s cross-aged “families” will meet on Monday, April 24th at 12:55 in their regular family locations.  Nearing the end of the school year, the focus of the family meeting will be a comprehensive review and recap of the meaning and application of each of the six pillars of character:  Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.  Students will brainstorm ideas to ascribe to each of the Pillars and create a visual to remind everyone what it means to be a Bridgeview student of character.

“Oh the Places You’ll Go”: Next week, Bridgeview students will be divided into various teams and compete via ‘cash wars’ to secure funds for the Bridgeview Walk-a-thon scheduled for Friday, April 28th from 1:00-3:00.  During the week leading up to the Walk-a-thon, students on the various teams will earn prizes and gift cards to various locations in LeClaire and the Quad City area based on their team’s daily cash totals.  Funds collected for the Walk-a-thon will be used by the Bridgeview PTA to support the addition of soft seating and an art mural in the Bridgeview library. Please help Dr. Seuss’s Bridgeview friends to earn the cash they will need for the places they will go! Click here for full details and donation forms.

Musical Opportunities: Band and orchestra students across the district are scheduled for two performances next week.  On Monday, 6-12 band students will gather at the I-Wireless Center in Moline for the district’s annual band extravaganza.  Then, on Thursday, April 27 beginning at 6:00 in the high school theater, elementary orchestral students will host their spring performance.  Both of these events showcase the amazing talents of our elementary musicians and are can’t miss events.  See you there!
