Mornings with Moms Postponed: Please join Bridgeview on the rescheduled date for Mornings with Moms on Tuesday, February 13th at 7:30 a.m.!

Elementary Valentine’s Day Parties:  Valentine’s Day parties will take place on Tuesday, February 14th around 2:30 p.m. in all PV elementary schools!  Valentine’s Day is a fun event as children enjoy giving and receiving valentines.  As a district, PV is working to minimize the amount of food items brought into the classrooms, especially the items that do not support a healthy life style. Please consider speaking with your child about not attaching Valentine candy treats to their card. If students are interested in including something additional with their Valentines, they may want to consider pencils, stickers, and other non-food items. If individual Valentines have attached candy or treats, these must follow the Spartan Safe Snack List. Click here for the list. As always, our number one priority is to keep all of our children safe and healthy.

PTA Meeting Date ChangeThe next Cody PTA meeting is Monday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Cody library.  Please note, this is a date change to accommodate those attending the PVJH info night on Tuesday. Free childcare is provided. Meetings do NOT last longer than one hour.  Topics on this month’s PTA agenda include:

  • Vote on the PTA Bi-laws (attached). This is required every 3 years.
  • Book Fair
  • Committee Chairs for next school year

Yearbook Photos NeededThe yearbook is in need of classroom and event pictures.  If you were the class photographer for a party, or have any pictures from Hopewell events, please turn copies into the Yearbook committee immediately.  You can submit pictures by sending them to Kurt and LeAnn Johnson at 6johnsonhawks@gmail.com, or putting them on a CD or flash drive and have them turned into the office addressed to Yearbook Committee.  Be sure to include your name and they can be returned the next school day. Pictures must be in high resolution so if you have them on your smart phone simply select to send them in high resolution/actual size.  All pictures need to state what classroom they are for (teacher’s name) or the event title.

World Culture Night: Have you ever thought about taking a trip around the world?  Now’s your chance at Hopewell’s first World Culture Night.  This event on Friday, February 23rd, 2018 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. will celebrate the diverse cultures found in countries throughout the world as well as our school.  This is a FREE event for the family that will showcase over 13 countries.  Kids can pick up their passport on their way into the event.  Once it is “stamped,” they can take home a souvenir. Pleasant View Variety Show: The Pleasant View Variety Show is TONIGHT, Friday, February 9th at 6:15 p.m.  Come see the talented students of Pleasant View perform in the High School Auditorium.  As a reminder, students attending the show should remain in the high school theatre where they can be supervised by a parent or guardian.  Students may not wander the halls of the high school unsupervised.  Thank you!

Incoming 9th grade Parents: 3D Printers, robots, sweet treats, oh my!  Please join the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department in the cafeteria between 6:30 – 7:00 (before the 9th grade meeting) as we demonstrate, explain, and let you explore the many classes that will help your child connect what they are learning in their core subjects to the real world. CTE classes will help your child gain key skills to help them get a job after they graduate. It’s also a great way to explore career options and meet the people who work in them. Please join us on February 13th & 15th!

Parent Teacher Conferences:  New this year, PVJH will be scheduling conferences online!  The system will open at 7:00pm on Monday, February 12, 2018, with conferences being held on February 22nd.   Student work will also be on display outside classrooms for viewing.  You will receive an email notification when the system opens.  Click here for a letter explaining the new process and here for full instructions on how to register for your student’s conferences online.

PVJH PTA Help Needed:  The PVJH PTA needs your help to provide concessions during all athletic games! If you have time, please help out by working a shift (or splitting a shift with another parent). Click here to sign up!

2019 European Summer Trip: In June of 2019, PVHS students will traverse Europe for 17 days to see the sights, experience the culture, learn the history, and appreciate the beauty of this diverse world.  The trip will consist of visiting London, Paris, Switzerland, and Italy.  This trip is open to any PVHS student and enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis.    This is the 3rd time this tour has been run and it has been very popular in the past, so enroll early before all the seats are gone.  Deadline to enroll is March 1st.  There will be 3 Trip Informational Meetings for those interested in traveling on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
