Riverdale Heights

Riverdale Heights Loves to Read: Riverdale Heights has a building goal to foster a love of reading in every child.  To help engage readers, we are again participating in “The Quad City River Bandits Book Buddies Reading Program!”  Representatives from the River Bandits will be launching this at an all school assembly today!  After spring break, each student at Riverdale Heights will be asked to set a reading goal to obtain between Monday, March 20th and Thursday, April 13th.  Students that meet their goal will receive a bookmark, a free ticket to the game, along with a lunchable and juice.

The River Bandits game will be held on Friday, May 5th and families can purchase additional tickets for $5 (general admission).  Please save the date and encourage your child to participate and read to you at home!  What a great way to encourage reading!

PAJAMA DAY(S) – In efforts to ease back from Spring Break, we will have pajama day on Monday, March 20th to celebrate “Reading Across America,” and teachers are building some time into the day to snuggle up and read.  We are encouraging all K, 1, 3-6 grade students to participate on Monday.   2nd grade has chosen to have their pajama day on Friday as they had a field trip planned for Monday, so please make note of that change if you have a 2nd grader. Thanks for encouraging your child to read!

PTA Meeting, Tuesday March 21st at 6:30pm in the Riverdale Heights library:  Our guest speaker is Stacy Schick, Riverdale Heights Nurse.  She will give us tips on how to keep our kids healthy during this cold and flu season, updates on new immunization requirements for 7th grade & 3rd grade vision requirements, and will be available to answer any health related questions.  Join us to learn about current Riverdale Heights events, information, & free babysitting!

PARKING CHANGES

Starting March 13, 2017, construction crews will begin the expansion and renovation of Pleasant Valley High School.  Read more about the project here.  Construction will start in the East Parking lot.  This lot will be off-limits which requires a change to parking procedures.  The goal is to keep traffic flowing and stop cars blocking traffic on Belmont Road.  Please review all traffic guidelines and included maps.  These changes will take effect March 13, 2017.

Daily Morning Drop Off (red)

Every morning Monday through Friday, parents/guardians dropping off students may use the north lot along Belmont Road.  To get as many cars through the stoplight, pull up as close as possible to the car in front of you.  When everyone stops, everyone gets out.  No matter what door the student wants to enter – we ask that you not stop until everyone stops – then all students can get out safely at the same time.  This allows for a smoother traffic flow.

Parent/guardian drivers may also use the west parking lot.  However, this intersection will not be manned and it is not advisable to turn left out of this parking lot.

THERE WILL BE NO DROP OFF IN THE EAST PARKING LOT TO ENTER NEAR THE WEIGHT ROOM – AS THE EAST PARKING LOT WILL BE CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION.

Daily Afternoon Pick Up (green)

Every afternoon Monday through Friday, parents/guardians picking up students may use the north lot along Belmont Road.  To get as many cars through the stoplight, pull up as close as possible to the car in front of you.

Parent/guardian drivers may also use the west parking lot, stacking along the outside of the parking lot and up to the intersection with staff parking.  However, this intersection will not be manned and it is not advisable to turn left out of this parking lot.

From 2:30-3:15pm, parent/guardian drivers may also use the circle drive normally used for busses.  Stacking is allowed during this time period, but this line will be closed at 3:15pm.

Early Dismissal Pick Up April 5 and May 3 (blue)

On these days, parents/guardians picking up students may use the north lot along Belmont Road.

Parent/guardian drivers may also use the west parking lot, stacking along the outside of the parking lot and up to the intersection with staff parking.  On these two days only, this intersection will be manned with a Sheriff’s Deputy until 12:25pm, parent/guardian drivers may also use the circle drive normally used for busses.  Stacking is allowed during this time period, but this line will be closed at 12:25pm.  Traffic will be directed through the parking lot and out to Belmont Road (please see map)

Student Drivers (yellow)

Students who drive to school will be allowed to park in the open parking lots marked in yellow on the maps.  The two West parking lots are open.  Access to the newer portion of the East Parking lot will now be off of College Drive on the Scott Community College campus.  Students can also park in the expanded lot near the softball and baseball fields.  Please schedule accordingly as the walk to the High School may be longer than in the past.

Click map for a larger view.

Our primary purpose is student safety.  Please follow these parking guidelines through the end of the school year, as we prepare for what will be a beautiful expanded and renovated PVHS.
