Bridgeview Joins Forces with Local Volunteers to Complete Landscape Beautification Project

We love a good beautification project! Over the spring and summer at Bridgeview Elementary, dead and overgrown plants were removed by Mr. White and the PV maintenance crew to prepare for a landscape beautification project that was completed during the month of October! Staff and students orchestrated the effort to focus on learning about citizenship and horticulture. A video launch was shared with all students to preview the work that each student did in shifts from 15 to 30 minutes long. The Bridgeview PTA supported the effort financially, which was minimal due to generous donations by Home Depot and Wallace’s Garden Center in Bettendorf. Megan Harshberger, Bridgeview parent and local landscaper, led the charge with planning and presence on both days to help the students understand their work and have fun!

Students had fun contributing during the project. This was evident in the photos and statements made throughout their learning and work. They learned about a variety of things including annuals, perennials, planting, splitting and transplanting. Nearly 80 plants were freshly planted or transplanted. We look forward to enjoying the new and improved look around our main entrance now and for years to come!  Thank you to the donors, volunteers, staff, and students for making this school wide project come to life!
