The goal is to teach mathematical problem solving & critical thinking skills. Meetings will consist of team/group activities, along with student led presentations. These presentations will teach many strategies that can be used in all forms of math, and, will have practice problems in them.

PV ESPORTS

Student focus around Esports with the main focus being around events that paradigm holds. Paradigm is local business in Davenport which hosts Esports events. Some events include rec league & tournaments – some tournaments offer scholarship money. * Esports is centered around computer gaming.

Economics & Investing Club

Will participate in the National Economics Challenge. Plan to study economic concepts as a group once a week, to prepare for the challenge, and, plan on having an investing division within the club where as group members, raise money & invest it in the stock market via a custodial brokerage account. Will study concepts in finance & invest money in the stock market as a learning experience.

Dungeons & Dragons

CLUB DESCRIPTION:
A multiplayer pen & paper roleplaying game where a DM (dungeon master) creates games (campaigns) for players to adventure through. This game encourages teamwork, boosts problem solving skills, and promotes a healthy understanding of math & statistics.

Writer’s Club

Women In STEM

CLUB DESCRIPTION:
Organized to get girls interested in STEM-related careers by interacting with other women already in the field. May include in-person and virtual visits from professionals, field trips to visit various STEM careers, and community engagement regarding STEM. Students will have the opportunity to volunteer with younger students within the district through the “Hour of Code” program, and other opportunities as they arise.

Trapshooting

CLUB DESCRIPTION:
This team is a program organized and supported through the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) through which gun clubs, shooting facilities and other organizations provide youth with opportunities to participate in organized, adultsupervised, trapshooting activities leading to the Olympic styles of Bunker Trap and International Skeet. The goal of the program is to give students the opportunity to represent their school in the lifelong sport of shooting that is based on safety and responsibility.

Students For Political Action

Spartan Assembly

Scholastic’s Bowl

This is an organization that allows students a chance to demonstrate knowledge of materials across the curriculum in “Jeopardy” like format. Students are arranged in teams of 4 or 5, they must “buzz in” to answer toss up questions to solve in 30 seconds. Competitions involve competing with various schools in both Iowa and Illinois, and participation in subject-specific competitions, such as Thinkers Throw-down.

Social Committee

CLUB DESCRIPTION:
Students get together to plan and decorate for Homecoming and Turnabout dances. This group decides dance themes, order and assembles decorations, design and sell tickets, create ad posters, arrange for a DJ, and coordinate with the PTA. They meet as needed around dance time in the sponsor’s classroom after school.
