Calling all PTA Volunteers and Committees: If you are interested in volunteering for Hopewell’s 2019/2020 PTA team please let us know. We are contacting all existing volunteers and we can always use help! If there is something you want to help with please contact pvhopewellpta@gmail.com (this is a new email that is going with the new web page in the works!)

BoxTops: Please send any boxtops you have collect to Hopewell – If you want to help cut and count boxtops, the PTA is meeting Tuesday, February 19 at 10 a.m. in the conference room by the library. The money collected is used by Hopewell for things like indoor recess games!

Kindergarten Registration: Kindergarten Registration is Friday, February 22 at 9:30 a.m. PTA gives books to the incoming children!

World Culture Night: The Hopewell World Culture night is coming up on Friday, February 22 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.!  The evening will showcase 24 countries represented by Hopewell families. There will be information and food from these countries – the night will end in different cultural performances & Zumba! If you would be interested in helping to set up or tear down we would love your help (set up between 5 p.m. and 6 with tear down at 8). Bon Voyage!

Conference Child Care: The PTA will provide child care at the school February 26 and 28 in the conference room next to the library from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.. The Book Fair is those nights too in the cafeteria. See you there!

Hopewell Harmony at QC Storm: Hopewell Harmony (4th/5th grade choir) will be singing the national anthem at the QC Storm hockey game on Friday March 1st at the Tax Slayer Center.  Game begins at 7:10pm.  Tickets are available at a discounted rate of $13 for adults and $10 for students.  Please fill out the Google form (Hopewell QC Storm Ticket Order Form), and turn in your payment to the Hopewell office.  Order forms and money are due by Thursday February 21st.  We hope you can join us for this exciting event!

Volunteers Needed:  The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Pleasant View on Tuesday, February 26th and Thursday, February 28th.  The Fair will be open during parent-teacher conferences from 3:00-8:00 PM.  Students will preview the books on February 20th and 21st and will have an opportunity to make purchases from the Book Fair carts on February 22nd.  Volunteers are needed to help make the Book Fair a success.  You can help students compile wish lists; help students purchase books during school hours; setup, run the cash register, locate books for parents and cleanup on our two fair nights.  Please click here to volunteer for any times that you can.  Thank you for your support of the book fair!

Conference Child CareBabysitters are provided by the PTA during conferences on Tuesday, Feb. 26th and Thursday, Feb. 28th from 3:15-8:00 in the gymnasium.

RDH Jump Rope for Heart: Riverdale Heights Jump Rope for Heart from the American Heart Association is coming! Event Date:  February 25th – March 1st   During regular PE classes.  We will promote lifetime fitness and healthy lifestyles. Donations are optional, throw away packet if you choose not to donate. CHECKS AND ONLINE ONLY, PLEASE…donations are due March 8, checks in the collection envelope, or online.  Students are encouraged to collect donations from family and friends, and not go door to door. No School Reminder: There is no school Monday, February 18th, 2019.

Yearbooks: If you have not purchased a yearbook for your child and would like to, please get yours now! Yearbooks may be purchased in the main office through March 22nd. The yearbooks cost $28 and checks can be made out to Pleasant Valley Junior High (PVJH).  Yearbooks will NOT be for sale at the end of the school year.
Purchased yearbooks will be handed out the last week of school.

Registration Materials: All junior high students received 2019-2020 registration materials this week in their Language Arts classes.  Registration material included course recommendations and instructions on how to enter their course requests into their student portal.  In order to enter course requests, students must sign into the student portal (not the parent portal) using their logon and password.  If they have never signed into their student portal, information is included in the instructions on how to set up their student portal.  The registration portal is now opened until Monday, February 25th at 9:00 p.m.

PVJH Conference Scheduling: Pleasant Valley Junior High School will be using the PTC Fast Online Scheduling program for Parent-Teacher conferences for the 2018-2019 school year.  The online scheduling system will allow parents to select the time to meet with teachers that is easy and convenient for them.  The scheduling window will open up on the evening of Tuesday, February 12th and will remain open until the day of the conference. The junior high will hold conferences on Thursday, February 21st from 3:30-7:30 p.m.

Please use the following steps located below.

  • If you have access to a computer please enter the following link:
  • At that web address, you will be asked to choose the teachers you would like to meet with.  After submitting your choices it will ask for your student’s first and last name, your email address and name.
  • Please note: if you have two students with the same teacher, you will have to schedule appointments for each student.
  • To confirm your identity and email address, PTC Fast will send you a confirmation email.
  • Click on the link in the email to see a screen showing all available times for your parent-teacher conference. Click on whichever time is most convenient for you.

Spring Musical Date Changes: The dates for the spring musical, The Music Man Jr., have been changed. The show will now be performed Friday, March 29th and Saturday, March 30th at 7 PM. Tickets are $5.
