Quad City Blues 9th Annual Benefit GameGrab the family and watch the Quad City Blues Hockey Team play in their 9th Annual Benefit Game vs. Cedar Rapids on Sunday, February 10th, beginning with the JV game at 11:30am and the Varsity to immediately follow at 1:00pm at the Tax Slayer.  The money raised will go for Genesis Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Center (GO PEDS).  Admission is $5/adult, $3/Seniors & Military and $2/Students.  Current Quad City Hockey Association players wearing an Ice Eagles hockey jersey will get in free!

 Give Kids a Smile Dental Program: The Bethany Give Kids A Smile Dental Program  is offering its free dental care to any K-12 students that qualify on February 27th, 2019.  Please view the attachments at bethany-qc.org/gkas that explain qualifications.  **This service may be used to complete the kindergarten dental screening requirement.** This information is also available in the main office. Please contact your school nurse if you have questions about this program.  Forms should be turned in no later than February 12th.

Scott County Health Dept. Care for Kids: The SCHD Care for Kids program is available to Scott County families to help connect them with medical, dental and vision homes, promote wellness, and link with community resources as needed.  To learn more about this service, click here!

Pleasant View Tubing Party: A tubing party will be held Saturday 2/23 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Snowstar in Andalusia, IL!  The rate of $13 for 2 hours of tubing can be honored if  there are 15 people planning to tube. People planning to attend will need to turn money in (cash preferred) to the Pleasant View front office by Tuesday, February 19th to guarantee the 15 student minimum.  Please mark student’s name with payment.  Checks can be made out to Snowstar.

  • Tubers will need to bring a waiver signed by the student and a parent/guardian. A copy of the waiver is available on the Snowstar website at http://skisnowstar.com/waiver. Print the waiver, sign it and have your student bring it to Snowstar.
  • This is not a school sponsored event so transportation and chaperoning are to be provided by parents and not by PV.

Spring Book Club: Spring Book Club registration will open Monday and can be found at http://www.riverdaleheightspta.com.  There will be three different clubs (based on grade) that will meet once as a group to discuss the book after a month of reading time.  Each group is hosted by a Riverdale Heights teacher.  Registration fee is $5 per student to cover the book cost.  Books will be distributed to those registered approximately one month before each club meets.   The first 20 students (per group) will be accepted into each club.

PVJH Conference Scheduling: Pleasant Valley Junior High School will be using the PTC Fast Online Scheduling program for Parent-Teacher conferences for the 2018-2019 school year.  The online scheduling system will allow parents to select the time to meet with teachers that is easy and convenient for them.  The scheduling window will open up on the evening of Tuesday, February 12th and will remain open until the day of the conference. The junior high will hold conferences on Thursday, February 21st from 3:30-7:30 p.m.

Please use the following steps located below.

  • If you have access to a computer please enter the following link:
  • At that web address, you will be asked to choose the teachers you would like to meet with.  After submitting your choices it will ask for your student’s first and last name, your email address and name.
  • Please note: if you have two students with the same teacher, you will have to schedule appointments for each student.
  • To confirm your identity and email address, PTC Fast will send you a confirmation email.
  • Click on the link in the email to see a screen showing all available times for your parent-teacher conference. Click on whichever time is most convenient for you.

PVHS Course Selection: The High School course selection for the 2019/2020 school year is currently in process.  Counselors have met with the freshman and sophomore classes and will be meeting with the junior class beginning February 7th.  Information regarding the Course Selection can be found on the PVHS webpage (click here).  Just a reminder that the portal will close on Monday, February 25th.

Teacher Appreciation Snack Days: The PVHS PTA invites you to help celebrate our amazing teachers and staff at upcoming Teacher Appreciation snack days. Free Dental Care: If your student does not see the dentist on a regular basis the GIVE KIDS A SMILE program offers FREE dental care to students up to 18 years of age. If seeing the dentist is a financial burden please take advantage of this opportunity that is at no cost! If treatment is needed, a dentist will be assigned, and all dental care is again, ABSOLUTELY FREE.

Your child will receive FREE dental exam, cleaning and oral hygiene education. FREE fluoride treatments, FREE dental sealants and any necessary follow up care. Transportation to Riverdale Heights Elementary is provided from PVHS on February 27th.

This opportunity is offered to all of the schools in our area and is sadly underused. Your student can quality if they are on Medicaid OR do not have dental insurance.

If you are interested please contact Pam Cinadr, PVHS School Nurse, at cinadrpam@pleasval.k12.ia.us or at 332-5151 and ask for the Health Office. Forms will be sent to you immediately so you can take advantage of this excellent program.
