PVJH Musical: The PVJH Drama Department is putting on their spring musical this weekend and YOU are invited! Come see a musical that takes place in our very own beloved Iowa! Set in 1912 River City, Iowa, Harold Hill is trying to swindle money from the good people of this small town by trying to sell them a band he has no intention of actually forming, but will Marian the librarian and music teacher get in his way??? Come see the PVJH production of this musical classic The Music Man Jr.! Shows are on Friday, March 29th and Saturday, March 30th at 7:00 p.m. in A Gym at Pleasant Valley Junior High school. Tickets are $5. See you there!

QCSYE Auditions: The Quad City Symphony Youth Ensembles is ready for auditions for the upcoming season!  The Quad City Symphony Youth Ensembles (QCSYE) program consists of six performance groups (four youth orchestras and two youth choirs) for students in grades two through twelve. Members have the opportunity to perform great orchestral and choral repertoire with the most talented young musicians in the area, and learn from the mentorship of professional musicians from throughout the region. Auditions will be held May 14-30, and there are open positions for every instrument. Consult the Audition Guide for any questions you have about audition requirements and the upcoming season. Cody Variety Show: The Cody Winter Wonderland of Talent Variety Show will be TODAY, Friday, March 29 at Pleasant Valley High School in the theater. The show begins at 6:00 p.m., performers arrive 5:15 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend the show and support the Cody performers!

Spring Pictures: The Spring Picture Orders are due April 1! You may order online or return your order envelope to the school office by MondayAll orders will be sent in on that day.  You may order online after the deadline date, but a late fee may apply.  If you choose to not place an order, you do not need to send anything back to school.  If you have any questions regarding your picture, you may call the school at 332-0210 or contact HR Imaging a 815-433-1766 or online at hrimaging.com.

Give Kids a Smile Mobile Clinic: The Bethany Mobile Dental Clinic is coming to Cody on April 8. The Give Kids A Smile Program offers FREE DENTAL CARE to students who have not been to the dentist in the last 6 months, are not covered by private dental insurance, or for student receiving Medicaid.  Yellow enrollment forms are coming home with your student and should be returned by April 2nd. Parents/guardians may request enrollment form by contacting Ann Harris at harrisann@pleasval.k12.ia.us

Cody Yearbook: Last call to purchase a yearbook for this school year! The yearbook cost is $11 and can be paid online through the Parent Portal or cash/check in the office.  Yearbooks will be handed out to students towards the end of the school year.  Any questions, please call the office at 563-332-0210.

Hopewell VIP Day: Save the Date Hopewell! VIP Day is May 3, 2019.  Please give your VIP’s a heads up so they can mark their calendars! More info to come!

Skating Party: Time to skate! The last party was canceled due to weather so Monday, April 1, everyone can skate from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Eldridge Skate Park!  See you there!

Principal’s Coffee: The Principal’s Coffee is Friday, April 5 from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. This is a great way to meet the principal and other parents! This event is also kid friendly with coffee and treats provided. The Principal’s Coffee allows Mr. Welch to share ideas and thoughts about Hopewell kids. Parents can ask questions and bring up topics. This is a casual, friendly meeting and a great way to get involved in your child’s school.

New PTA Website: The Hopewell PTA has rolled out a new web site! Click here to give it a visit and find out more about the Hopewell PTA! 

PTA Meeting:  The next Hopewell PTA meeting is Thursday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the library. The group is still working to fill positions for next year, please contact the PTA if you can help. Yearbook has been done by the same wonderful couple for many years (Kurt and LeAnn Johnson – give them a standing ovation) and it is time for a change! If you are artistic and interested in “scrap booking” with Jill Brown’s Facebook pictures – the PTA would love to hear from you! Everyone is invited to the PTA meetings, as it is a wonderful way to hear what is going on at Hopewell. To “join” the PTA, merely donate when you pay your child’s school fees. We look forward to some new faces!

Newspaper Collection:  On Wednesday, April 3rd, Pleasant View faculty, staff and students will have their next Character Circle lesson.  The focus of this lesson is to identify what is required for small groups to work together successfully.  One of the main supplies for the learning activity is newspaper.  If you currently receive the newspaper at home, please consider sending it to school with your child so it can be donated for the activity.  Papers can be brought to the office. Thank you for helping with the April Character Circle learning activity.

Donuts with Dad: The Pleasant View PTA will be hosting Donuts with Dad on Friday, April 5th. Your child and a special guest are invited to attend to enjoy a light breakfast together before going to school.  The event begins at 7:30 am and ends when the kids begin their school day. We will be sending pre-order forms home and this year – we are excited to be able to offer Hurts Donuts! Order forms are due back by Friday, March 29th.

Donuts with Dad Volunteers: The PTA also needs volunteers for to make this event a success! There are a number of ways you can help, click here for all the details!

RDH Glow Disco: Come ‘GET YOUR GLOW ON’ and join the fun at the Riverdale Heights 4th Annual Glow Disco next Friday, April 5th, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the Riverdale Heights Gym!  This event is FREE and is open to all K – 6th graders.  The lights will be dimmed and the DJ will be rockin’!  Wear your favorite glow creations and dance!  There will all be glow items for sale as well. *This is not a drop off event!  All students must be accompanied by an adult.*

2019 Graduation Information Coming Soon: 2019 Graduation information will be sent by eNews by April 8, 2019.  Please look for all information to be posted to the HS webpage in the near future!

Volunteer Opportunity: SANDBAGGING HELP IS NEEDED!  The City of Riverdale is looking for MANY volunteers to help with sandbagging on Saturday, April 6th between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  If you are interested in helping out for part of the time, or the entire time, please sign up with Mrs. Jepsen ASAP.

Career Center:

  • The next L&L will be World Languages. This L&L will cover areas that work with people who have a language other than English such as: ESL Teacher, International Business/Relations, Translator, and Immigration. Sign-up is available by clicking here.

Families of Seniors: Please note that calendar revisions caused by weather cancellations do NOT impact the last day of school for seniors OR graduation (Sunday, May 26th @ 3:30 p.m.)

Volunteer Opportunity: Need some opportunities for service hours? The Volleyball Factory is looking for some students that are interested in helping to work concessions on Sunday, March 31st for a volleyball tournament at the Volleyball Factory.  The Volleyball Factory is located at 2060 W River Drive in Davenport.
