Larry Johnsen Family Scholarship

Larry Johnsen is a retired Department of the Army civilian who was a professional logistician and systems analyst.  He retired as the Director of Logistics for the US Army Installation Management Agency Northwest Region.  His children – Justin Johnsen, Erica Johnsen, and Melany Bazare – all graduated from Pleasant Valley High School, as did his grandchildren Seth and Greison Skahill.  The family sees a need to provide academic and vocational support for student seeking to further their education at an institution other than a college or university.

Criteria to Apply:

  • Be a graduating senior from PVHS
  • Planning to attend a community college or vocational institution
  • Demonstrate good citizenship, honesty, and integrity
  • GPA above 2.5

Scholarship Personal Statement/Essay:

  • In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us why you've chosen your field of study.
  • In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us what your plans are after your post-secondary education is complete.
  • In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us about one of the following: your ability to problem solve, work with others, and/or your dedication to the community.
  • In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us how you've overcome an obstacle.
  • In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us anything else about yourself you think the selection committee would like to know.
  • In less than 250 words (1700 characters), describe a situation where you showed integrity and honesty to benefit others.
