Ray and Joyce Bauwens Dedication to Service Scholarship

Ray and Joyce Bauwens have been serving the Pleasant Valley Community School District for a combined 102 years. Ray and Joyce dedicated nearly all of their adult lives to the PV district, sending their children through the PV system, working in the district, and volunteering their free time to give back at different events.  Joyce began at PVHS in 1966, working with teachers assembling curriculum books. She then moved to the Administrative Center doing payroll, becoming the Secretary of Transportation, and the school board Secretary. Later, Joyce took on the roll of school board Treasurer, which she still does, along with District Payroll. Joyce retired in December of 2018 after completing over 52 years at PVCSD. Ray began his PV career in 1960 as a regular route bus driver. After many years in that role, Ray became the District Groundskeeper. Near the end of his time at PV, Ray found his true calling in becoming one of the Special Education bus drivers, where he was fondly known as “Mr. Ray” by his students. Ray passed away on January 22, 2015.  This scholarship is meant to memorialize the Bauwens dedication to PVCSD and to carry on their legacy of loyalty and servitude for years to come.
