The Iowa High School Press Association (IHSPA) has named the Spartan Shield the 2023 Class C News Team of the Year and the PVHS Yearbook 2023 Yearbook of the Year.
The IHSPA’s annual conference is held each fall and features a keynote speaker, breakout sessions, newspaper and yearbook critiques and tours of media outlets for high school students, in addition to the awards ceremony.
Maureen Dyer, Journalism Teacher and Spartan Shield Faculty Advisor said,“Watching students realize that their words can cultivate change is what makes journalism so important and special. My students constantly amaze me with their passion for writing, quest for the truth, and determination to make a difference. It’s so exciting to see their hard work recognized. I’m so very proud of them.”
