After 6 weeks of collecting food and monetary donations, PV raised a total of 92,475 pounds of food for the Student Hunger Drive earning us a 1st place finish! We provided 232,494 meals for families in need!
All area schools combined raised a total of 818,468 meals.
In addition, PV was also the winner of the Mission Challenge Award, a special award where students recap their hunger drive experience through photos as well as an essay describing what the hunger drive means to them. Executive Officer Katelyn Chen wrote, "Through the SHD, we have learned that you never truly know what someone is going through. Yes, there are some clear signs of food insecurity, but even though we participate in the Hunger Drive every year, most of us will never know the depth of how difficult it is to worry about where your next meal is coming from. The RiverBend Food Bank has inspired and challenged us to think outside of ourselves, create more empathy and awareness around hunger, and do good whenever we can."
