We can’t wait to welcome our PV students back! Our 2024/2025 school start dates for all grade levels are listed below:
- 1st - 12th Grade: August 23, 2024
- Note: 10-12th grade students will attend on a modified schedule for the first day of school.
- Kindergarten: Half of the kindergarten class will attend on August 27th (Tuesday) and half of the kindergarten class will attend on August 28th (Wednesday). Both groups will join together and attend daily starting on August 29th. More details will be shared with parents on August 23, 2024.
- Preschool: August 29, 2024
- AM Session: 8:10 -11:10
- PM Session: 12:15-3:15
- Transition2Kindergarten (T2K): August 29, 2024
As these dates approach, parents and guardians can find everything they need to know for a successful transition back to school in the information included below.
MEET & GREET
Meet & Greet and Back to School Nights welcome students back to school prior to the first day of classes. Dates and times vary based on grade level as outlined below:
- Preschool: August 28th
- Hopewell: 3:00-4:00 p.m.
- Bridgeview: 3:15-4:15 p.m.
- Kindergarten: August 26, 4:30-5:30 p.m
- T2K: August 26, 4:30-5:30 p.m
- 1st - 6th Grade: August 22, 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
- Families will sign up for a specific time between 4:30 pm and 6:00pm. This allows our teachers to spend time with each family as they bring in their supplies. A Meet & Greet sign up will be sent via email once teacher assignments are released.
- Junior High:
- August 16: PVJH will be open from 9:00-5:00 for self-guided tours and for students to locate their locker and walk their schedule. 7th grade students and new 8th grade students may pick up their chromebooks at this time.
- August 20: Special Education Meet & Greet: 3:00-4:00 p.m.
- August 20: 7th Grade Open House, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
- August 21: 8th Grade Open House, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
- High School: August 21, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
SCHOOL SUPPLY LISTS
- Preschool OPTIONAL School Supplies: Backpack, water bottle with name and extra clothes
- T2K School Supplies: Box of Kleenex, Backpack, Extra Clothes, Water Bottle with closable spout, beach towel or blanket

- High School supply needs will be given to students by teachers on the first day of classes.

TEACHER ASSIGNMENTS
- Preschool: Preschool parents will be contacted by their student’s teacher by August 9th.
- Kindergarten: On August 23, Kindergarten parents will receive communication from the school with teacher assignment and start date information. Half of the kindergarten class will attend on August 27th (Tuesday) and half of the kindergarten class will attend on August 28th (Wednesday). Both groups will join together and attend daily starting on August 29th.
- 1st - 6th Grade: Infinite Campus Parent Portal opens to access homeroom teacher assignments on Friday, August 16th at 9:00 a.m.
- Junior High: Infinite Campus Parent Portal opens to access schedules with teacher assignments on Friday, August 16th at 9:00 a.m.
- High School: Infinite Campus Parent Portal opens to access schedules on August 16th at 9:00 a.m.
BUS INFORMATION
If your student is riding the bus, you will learn your bus assignment through the parent portal Bus assignments are available in your parent portal now. Bus assignments could change up to the night before school starts, so check back often!

FREE & REDUCED MEALS: Your family may qualify for free or reduced-price meals by filling out the Iowa Application for Free & Reduced Price School Meals/Milk. To begin your online free and reduced application, please log in to your Parent Portal Account here. If you do not have an account please call our Administration Center at 563-332-5550. Please note that the Free and Reduced application must be accessed from the Portal website link above; it is not available through the Portal Mobile App.
- Once logged in, click the link for “Applications/Forms” on the left
- Select “Click to start meal benefit application”
- After your application has been processed you will receive a notification in your parent portal inbox.

ENEWS AND DISTRICT COMMUNICATIONS
PV wants to keep you in the know. Pleasant Valley schools send out eNews on Fridays with important dates, events, and community opportunities for your school. Make sure you check your email inboxes every Friday afternoon, so you don’t miss a thing! Our individual building eNews updates will pick back up on Friday, August 9th!
To assure that your email provider will not block email communications, please add this email address to your safe senders list: enews@pleasval.org. Pleasant Valley will not give email lists to anyone outside of the district. If you do not have access to email, information is available in the school office.
