The National Merit Scholarship Program, now in its 70th year, honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. This year, approximately 16,000 students across the country were named Semifinalists. These students are among the highest-scoring entrants in each state on the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
To become a Finalist, Semifinalists must submit a detailed scholarship application, which includes an essay and information about their extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and awards. They must also have an outstanding academic record throughout high school and be endorsed by a school official. Finalists will be announced in February 2025, with the opportunity to compete for National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million.
We are incredibly proud of our students achievements and wish them the best as they advance in the competition. Their hard work, determination, and excellence make them outstanding representatives of Pleasant Valley High School and our community.
Please join us in congratulating these students on this accomplishment!
