Season Summary: Boys Golf Team Wraps Up Another Outstanding Season

Season Summary: Boys Golf Team Wraps Up Another Outstanding Season

Pleasant Valley Boys Golf completed another impressive season, winning 9 out of 11 events and finishing with an outstanding record of 142-5. The team’s depth was evident, with ten different players competing in varsity meets. Senior Ethan Blomme led the team with an All-State performance, averaging 72.9 strokes per 18 holes.  Reflecting on his experience at the state tournament, Blomme shared, "Representing Pleasant Valley at the state tournament makes me feel an incredible sense of pride. Not a lot of students get the opportunity to represent their school at this level, and doing so with some of my best friends is something I never take for granted."

Coach Nedelcoff shared his pride in the team’s year-round commitment to excellence, noting that the culture they've built is about more than just athletic performance. "The culture we have built over the last eight years does not start when the season starts. It is a year-round dedication to improve physically, mentally, and emotionally," said Coach Nedelcoff. "This happens in the weight room, during indoor sessions in the winter, and through camp activities in the spring and summer."

The team, made up of standout seniors Andrew Tillman, Calvin Short, Ben Scranton, Jack Blackwell, and Jimmy Averill, demonstrated great leadership throughout the season. Underclassmen Ben Livingston, Grant Sherrick, Carter Berg, and Charlie Dumas (Juniors), along with Zander Panek and Cole Harris (Sophomores), contributed significantly as well, competing in multiple varsity events.

The season’s biggest challenge came at the MAC Championship, where the team placed second for the first time in eight years. Despite this setback, the boys regrouped and went on to win the District Championship at Thunder Hills in Peosta, Iowa, followed by a strong top-four finish at the State Finals. "I look at this year's team in such a positive light," Coach Nedelcoff shared, emphasizing that his proudest moments were not based on individual achievements but on the team’s closeness and collective dedication. "The closeness the team showed throughout the year from all team members is what makes me proudest."
