We’re excited to announce that Pleasant Valley High School automotive students have qualified for the hands-on portion of the Iowa Auto Dealers Skills Assessment Competition! The Skills Contest is conducted in two parts, a written exam and a hands-on competition. The top eight schools who place highest in the written portion of the competition are invited to bring back students to compete in the hands-on portion of the contest in December.
PVHS students Tim Murphy, Emmett Olsen, Jack Winslow, Aden McCullough, Carson Roman and Corey Clark, led by Mr. Sutenberg, traveled to Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) to take part in the first round—a 100-question written assessment covering eight vehicle system areas associated with ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification. Students were challenged to demonstrate their knowledge of critical automotive systems and were given just one hour to complete the test.
Thanks to their outstanding scores, PVHS earned a place among the top teams, advancing to the hands-on competition in December.
PVHS will compete against other top schools at DMACC in December, where students will tackle real-world automotive tasks and further demonstrate their skills. Best of luck to our automotive students as they gear up for the hands-on round—your hard work and dedication continue to make us #PVProud!
