Robotics Program Receives $10,000 RDA Grant

Robotics Program Receives $10,000 RDA Grant

We are excited to announce that Pleasant Valley Community School District has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Regional Development Authority (RDA) to support the growth and sustainability of our Community Robotics Program!

This funding will be instrumental in enhancing our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) educational offerings, specifically through our For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Competition Team #9082. The grant will allow us to acquire advanced technology, tools, equipment, and storage solutions, including a competition chassis that will elevate our students’ ability to compete at the highest levels.

About the Robotics Program

Pleasant Valley’s robotics program is built on three pillars: Educate, Empower, and Excel.

  • Educate: Students work alongside professional mentors, gaining hands-on experience with state-of-the-art tools and technologies.
  • Empower: Through outreach events like summer camps and community fairs, students share their love of STEM and inspire others.
  • Excel: The team focuses on building competitive robots and refining strategies to perform at their best, locally and nationally.

Why This Grant Matters

In just three years, our robotics program has grown exponentially, starting with 10 members and now involving over 30 students in grades 8–12. The resources funded by this grant will not only benefit these students but also support our broader engineering and manufacturing curriculum, which serves over 250 students annually.

Thanks to the RDA’s generous support, we can continue fostering innovation, collaboration, and technical expertise in our Spartan community.
