Welcome to the kick-off of our 2022-2023 school year! I hope this summer is providing wonderful opportunities for you and your family to connect, relax, make memories, and read some great books. My name is Megan Halverson, and I am honored to be your new Bridgeview Principal! Please take a few minutes to explore this resource full of helpful links and information to set us all up for a successful transition back to school in August.
To start us off, I would like to introduce myself and share my vision for our year together - there’s even a little video below. I am entering my 16th year in education. Back in the summer of 2006, I was eagerly anticipating my student teaching placement from the University of Iowa (Go Hawks!). When I received my placement, I was assigned to spend 16 weeks in a 4th grade classroom at Bridgeview Elementary in LeClaire, Iowa. Well, let’s just say, Bridgeview quickly captured my heart. From the students to faculty to families, I was immediately inspired and motivated by the love, care, and student-centered values this school community is built upon. Fast forward and I had the pleasure of being a Bridgeview 2nd grade teacher for 8 years, before transitioning to the Instructional Coach role at Bridgeview for the next 6 years. Last school year, I began my school administrator journey as Dean of Students at PV’s Hopewell Elementary.
Throughout all of these years, roles, and experiences, my heart remains dedicated to our awesome Bridgeview and Pleasant Valley community. I very much look forward to being a part of your family’s school experience and partnering with you as we embark on our school year adventure! I am a firm believer in teamwork and collaboration, and that includes a strong home-school connection. In fact, I am prioritizing 7 C’s to guide my leadership, be my “Principal’s Principles,” and help us build a sensational BV Team! These C’s are: Coaching, Character, Communication, Commitment, Contagious energy, Care, and Consistency. Together, our number one goal is to help all of our students grow academically and socially-emotionally. But just as important is our steadfast focus and responsibility to model and nurture for our students a lifelong love of learning, a joy for reading, and to help each student discover their unique strengths and gifts to make our school community even stronger.
I look forward to building upon Bridgeview’s history, traditions, and heart as we co-create an exciting next chapter for our school and students.
Thank you,
