Pleasant Valley High School students are getting a new hands-on experience this semester. Fourteen students participate daily in this new automotive class. It's the next step for students interested in auto repair and maintenance. Scott Community College is letting our students use its garage - which is a big deal. The PVHS space is small and students had to work on cars cut in half! Now, they're working on dozens of different vehicles.
This new class comes from a collaboration with all Career and Techinical educators in the AEA. They were looking for new opportunities, and along with a grant, this class came to fruition. The goal is for these students to graduate high school with a certificate in light maintenance and repair. This class also earns them college credit towards an automotive associate's degree.
