The Pleasant Valley Community School District is proud to annouce record-breaking AP exam results! A score of 3 or higher generally earns a student college credit.
PVHS offers 15 AP courses serving 293 students an increase of 96 from 2019, an all time record in both course offerings and student participation.
503 exams were administered, an increase of 128 from 2019, all time record.
244/293 students or 83% passed the AP exam with a 3 or higher. While not a record, it is consistent with past performance over the past 5 years.

- 2016 = 134/152 or 88%
All 15 courses recorded a mean score higher than the pass rate of 3.0 for the first time.
AP Chemistry had a record participation rate at 21 students with 15/21 or 71% pass rate and a mean of 3.38.
AP Human Geography was offered for the first time to 9th grade students and extended from a semester to a year long in the 19-20 school year. This course was approved by the board as fulfilling our World History requirement. 120 students participated equaling the total number of students over the past decade. The mean score was 3.74 with 105/120 or an 88% pass rate. 23/29 or 79% 9th grade passed -10/29 or 34% 9th grade scored a 5, which is the highest score a student can achieve on an AP exam.
AP Physics C: Mechanics and AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism are NOT offered at PV but the students performing at a very high level in our AP Physics I and II courses are encouraged to take the exam. 9/9 students or 100% passed Mechanics. 6/9 students or 67% passed the Electricity and Magnetism. 9/40 or 23% of the total number of Iowa students attempting this exam came from PVHS.
AP Spanish had 20/21 or 95% pass with mean of 4.24.
AP US Government had 47/66 or 71% pass with a record mean score of 3.38 and number of students earning a 5 at 19.
