I hope you are having a great summer. It's only July, but before we know if the 2022-23 school year will be upon us. I'm looking forward to another incredible year and can't wait to get started.

- The master schedule at PVHS is created based on student requests. Teacher schedules, staffing needs, and textbooks are determined by course requests. Therefore, schedule changes are not guaranteed. Please note that requests for teacher changes will not be honored. Email your counselor only if there is an error to your schedule, a class that is needed to graduate or required by your college/university.
August 15/16 10:00am - 12:00pm - Building and Office Open for fee payments, lunch deposits, etc. for all students. Building will be open for incoming 9th graders to familiarize themselves with the building and to walk their schedules. We ask that you limit your visit to 30 minutes.
August 15/16 5:00pm - 7:00pm - Building is open for all students. Office is closed.
August 18 Special Education Transition Night, 6:00pm in the High School Commons.
August 18 7:00pm Virtual PVHS Open House - Building will be closed
- Please log in to your student’s Google classroom and watch each teacher’s short video. This is an opportunity for parents to gain information about performance expectations and curriculum content in each class. Detailed information to come.
August 23 8:10am First Day of School/ Early Dismissal - 9th Graders stay for Freshman Orientation.
- 10th - 12th grade, buses will be here at 3:30pm, please arrange your own ride home if you do not want to wait for the bus.

EARLY DISMISSALS: This year, PV schools will dismiss early on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Parents: Chromebook distribution will be conducted at the high school on the following days and times. Please remind your student to be present in order to receive their chromebook for 2022-2023.
*All Seniors still have their Chromebook from last year.
9th Graders - Distribution will take place during the 9th Grade Orientation Tuesday, August 23rd.
11th Graders - Distribution will take place immediately after 7th period (11:45 am) on Tuesday, August 23rd in the ABC Gym.
10th Graders - Distribution will take place during 8th period (2:45 pm) on Wednesday, August 24th in the ABC Gym.
If your student is riding the bus, you will learn your bus assignment through the parent portal. Bus assignments will be made in mid-August and we will alert you when they are available. Bus assignments could change up to the night before school starts, so check back often!

FREE & REDUCED MEALS: Your family may qualify for free or reduced-price meals by filling out the 2022-2023 Iowa Application for Free & Reduced Price School Meals/Milk. To begin your online free and reduced application, please log in to your Parent Portal Account here. If you do not have an account please call our Administration Center at 563-332-5550. Please note that the Free and Reduced application must be accessed from the Portal website link above; it is not available through the Portal Mobile App.

MENINGOCOCCAL MENINGITIS VACCINE INFORMATION: Students entering grade 12 must have 2 doses if born after September 15, 1999; or 1 dose if received at 16 years of age or older. There will be no grace period allowed, if your child does not meet the state requirements they will not be allowed to start school on August 23. If your student has a medical exemption; a new medical exemption to include the Meningococcal vaccine is required. YOU MUST PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION TO YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Incoming Sophomores:
Fr/So Service- Learning Requirement: 30 hours
- Service-Learning Inventory (1 hour)
- 27 hours at non profit organizations (501c3 non profit status)
- Reflective Project (2 hours)
- Sophomores must complete a minimum of 15 hours by the end of 1st semester to remain in good standing
As you are being grandfathered in, you can choose whether or not to do the service-learning inventory (if you choose not to, you will need 28 hours volunteering) but will need to do the reflective project. If you have already completed your hours, you do not have to do anything additional. The service-learning inventory, reflective project information, updated hours opportunities, and more can be found on the service-learning website.
Incoming Juniors:
Junior Senior Service -Learning Requirement: 40 hour passion project
- project theme to be approved (1 hour)
- design of project- why, where (2 hours)
- 35 hours at nonprofit organizations
- Panel Interview (2 hours)
- Track hours on hours verification form
- Hours should be turned in monthly so that progress can be tracked.
The information for theme, design, panel interview, updated hours opportunities, and more can be found on the service-learning website. You can complete these things at any time so you can begin your service.
Incoming Seniors:
