Each year the fifth grades across the district do a project to help citizens in our community. In past years, Pleasant View held a Veteran’s Day Breakfast. This year, 5th graders have decided to make a difference in our community by partnering up with Great River Bend Food Bank & Churches United QC Area Food Pantries. Funding from the Bettendorf Rotary was used to directly support Great River Bend Food Bank, but they also brainstormed ways to make a larger impact. They decided to collect and donate canned goods/non-perishable items and are asking the whole school to join in the project. They're collecting canned goods and/or non-perishable items now through February 1st.
"We greatly appreciate your help with supporting and making a difference in our community,: 5th graders said.
To support the project, teachers are also using the project for lessons. We caught up with them as they were making posters to hang around the school using Adobe Spark. It's the first time many of the students used this powerful, visual program. Hear some of their conversations and click the pictures below to get a closer look!
