I'm looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Pleasant View soon. I hope your summer months have been an enjoyable time filled with excitement and joy. Pleasant View has been a busy place since the end of the school year. Beyond the deep cleaning in classrooms and hallways, here are some of the larger summer projects that have been completed at your child's school.
- The library carpet has been removed and replaced. What a huge project! 100% of the books had to be removed, shelving moved and returned, and finally, the books had to be returned to the shelves. Thanks to the crew who managed this "heavy lifting!"
- A water bottle filler drinking fountain has been added to the main primary hallway. We now have 3 in the building.
- The gym floor has been refinished and repainted.
- The driveway and parking lot projects have been completed. Bye, bye potholes! An additional lane has been added that access the west drop-off and pick-up zones. The bus lane and east parking lot have been patched, sealed, and restriped.
- Accessibility to the playground track has been improved. An asphalt strip has been installed that links the intermediate playground blacktop to the asphalt track.
Driveway and Parking Lot Improvements
Last year we had an increase in the number of families who dropped off and picked up their children each day. In the afternoon this led to cars backing up into Crow Creek Road. This created an unsafe situation remedied by using the driveway and parking areas across the street at Pleasant View Baptist Church. This year the church plan will not be utilized. As a part of the driveway replacement project, an additional lane has been installed so that there can be two lanes of vehicles waiting to pick up children at the end of the day. The two lanes will have to merge into one just before the actual student pick-up area. Click here for new instructions. I think everyone will be quite pleased, especially those that had to navigate the potholes and rough spots this past year.
Many positive changes have taken place to our facilities, along with hiring the eight faculty members listed below.. I'm excited to get the 2022-23 school year off to a great start! I look forward to seeing as many families as possible at Meet & Greet on Monday, August 22nd. Enjoy the remaining days of summer break with your family and friends!

KINDERGARTEN: On August 9, Kindergarten parents will receive a call from the school. At that time, they will learn when their kindergartner will start school and their teacher assignment. Half of the kindergarten class will attend on August 23rd and 25th (Tuesday/Thursday) and half of the kindergarten class will attend on August 24th and 26th (Wednesday/Friday). All students will attend on Monday, August 29th.
On Monday, August 22, 2022 we will be holding our annual Meet and Greet. Families will sign up for a specific time between 4:30pm and 6:00pm. This allows our teachers to spend time with each family as they bring in their supplies. Sign up for a time here. If you ordered school supplies through the PTA, they will be available during Meet & Greet.
If your student is riding the bus, you will learn your bus assignment through the parent portal. Bus assignments will be made in mid-August and we will alert you when they are available. Bus assignments could change up to the night before school starts, so check back often!

We have some exciting news about access to technology! This year, K-2 students will have access to their own iPad right in the classroom! Every third grade classroom will have 12 iPads and 12 chromebooks! For the 2023-24 school year, 3rd grade students will have access to their own chromebook.
Students in 4th, 5th and 6th grade will have access to their own chromebook. This device will be provided by the district at no charge to the family and can be checked out for home use as needed. Students are responsible for the care of the loaned device when it leaves school premises. Please click here for an overview of the student chromebook responsibilities.
